Challenge139 Day 5 – God Is Wherever You Are

Challenge139 — Day 5

FILAS Women Online — Devotional for a deeper, more intimate walk with the God who knows you completely.

Today’s Scripture — Psalm 139:2–4

“You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.” (Psalm 139:2–4, NIV)

Devotional Reflection — God Is Wherever You Are

There is nowhere you can go that God is not already there. He is omnipresent — everywhere, all at once, always. He knows your ways, your rhythms, every quiet and loud moment of your life. Psalm 139:2–4 makes it deeply personal: God doesn’t just know where you are geographically — He knows your thoughts before you even finish thinking them.

He knows when you sit and when you rise. The mundane moments of your day — the morning alarm, the commute, the dishes, the late nights — none of them are beneath His notice. He is attentive to the small things because He is attentive to you.

He discerns your going out and your lying down. He walks with you into every room you enter — the ones that feel safe and the ones that make your heart race. He is already in the hard conversation before you get there. He is already in the doctor’s office, the meeting room, the quiet of your bedroom at 2am when sleep won’t come.

And before a word is on your tongue, He knows it completely. The prayers you can’t find words for, the cries that come out as tears instead of sentences, the things you wish you could say but don’t know how — He already understands. You never have to find the perfect words to reach God. He is already there, already listening, already caring.

In the moments you feel most alone, God is not watching from a distance. He is present. His omnipresence is not just that He is everywhere — it is that He is fully with you. Let that truth be your anchor today.

Journal Prompt

Journal Entry: Where have you felt God’s presence in your life this week? Think about the ordinary moments — a quiet morning, an unexpected encouragement, a peace that didn’t make sense. Write about one specific moment where you sensed He was near. If it’s hard to identify one, ask Him to open your eyes to where He has already been showing up.

Today’s Challenge

Challenge139 — Day 5: Today, practice living in the awareness of God’s presence. Choose one moment — whether you’re driving, cooking, working, or resting — and pause to say out loud or in your heart: ‘Lord, You are here. I am not alone.’ Let that moment of acknowledgment be your act of worship today.

Today’s Prayer

God, thank You for being present. Even at times when I feel all alone, You are present. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You know my thoughts before I think them and my words before I speak them. Help me to live in the moment of Your presence — to slow down enough to notice You in the ordinary, to reach for You in the difficult, and to celebrate You in the joyful. I don’t want to walk through this day missing You. You are here. That is enough. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
