Today’s Scripture — Psalm 139:5–6

“You hem me in behind and before, and You lay Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” (Psalm 139:5–6, NIV)

Devotional Reflection — He Is Already There

Sister, sometimes we walk into situations wondering, “God, are You going to be with me in this?” Psalm 139 gives us a beautiful reminder: God is not just going with you—He is already there.

Before you walk into that meeting, God is there. Before you have that difficult conversation, God is there. Before you receive the answer you have been waiting for, God is there. Before you step into a new season, God is there. And even when life takes an unexpected turn and you find yourself somewhere you never planned to be, you have not arrived somewhere beyond the reach of God.

David says, “You hem me in behind and before.” What a picture! God is behind you, before you, and His hand is upon you. Your past is not outside His reach, your present is not outside His care, and your future is not outside His presence.

Sometimes the unknown frightens us because we have never been there before. But God has.

You may have never walked this road before. You may have never carried this responsibility before. You may have never experienced this kind of change before. You may not know what tomorrow will bring. But Sister, tomorrow isn’t unfamiliar territory to God.

He is already there.

There is no room you will enter without Him. There is no season you will face without Him. There is no valley so low that His hand cannot reach you and no mountain so high that His presence cannot meet you there.

And perhaps that is why David says, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me.” When you really think about it, it is overwhelming. The Creator of heaven and earth cares enough about you to surround your life with His presence. He doesn’t simply watch your journey from a distance. He walks it with you.

So today, release some of the pressure of trying to figure everything out. You don’t have to know everything about where you’re going when you know the One who is already there.

And as you rest in that encouragement, share some encouragement with someone else. There may be a woman in your life who needs to be reminded that she isn’t alone. God may use something as simple as your text message to remind her, “I see you. I haven’t forgotten you. Keep going.”

Sometimes we pray for God to encourage someone, and His answer is: “I want to use you.”

Journal Prompt

Journal Entry: What situation ahead of you is causing you to feel uncertain, nervous, or afraid? Write it down. Then write these words beside it: “God is already there.” How would your attitude toward this situation change if you truly believed that God had already gone before you?

Now think about someone God has placed on your heart lately. Could it be that He is prompting you to remind her that she is seen, loved, and not alone?

Today’s Challenge

Challenge139 — Day 9: Encourage Someone Today

Today, send a kind text, handwritten note, card, make a phone call, or message to encourage someone.

Don’t overthink it. You don’t need a long speech or the perfect words. Simply allow God to use you to brighten someone’s day.

You might say, “You crossed my mind today, and I just wanted you to know I’m praying for you.” Or, “Keep going. God sees you, and I appreciate you.”

If someone specific comes to your mind while reading this, that may be your person.

Send the message. Make the call. Write the note.

Then thank God for allowing you to be a small reminder of His presence in someone else’s life.

Today’s Prayer

Father, thank You for going before me and surrounding me with Your presence. When I become afraid of what is ahead, remind me that there is nowhere I can go where You are not already there. Help me trust You with the places I cannot see and the situations I cannot control. Today, make me sensitive to the people around me. Show me who needs encouragement, and give me the words to remind them that they are seen, valued, and loved. Use me to carry a little of Your love into someone else’s day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Sis, Remember This…

You may not know what is waiting around the corner, but God does.

You may be walking somewhere you’ve never been before, but God is already there.

And while He’s encouraging you along your journey, He may just use you to encourage another sister along hers.

Go forward, Sis. You are surrounded, His hand is upon you, and wherever you’re headed—God got there first.
