Today’s Scripture – Psalms 139: 5-6
“You hem me in behind and before, and You lay Your hand upon. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, to lofty for me to attain.” (Psalms 139:5-6 NIV)
Devotional Reflection: You Can Run But You Can Not Hide!
Good day, my dear sisters! Well, if you have been following along on this Challenge139 journey, you should know by now that God is everywhere. There is no where that you can go that He is not present.
In the upcoming days days you will see specifically where He is. But you know what – I thought about verses 5-6 and there are times when I don’t want to be found by God. Let’s be honest.
Sometimes life is life-ing, as the say, and sometimes I want to escape the challenges of life but in that I also want to escape the reality of things. God may be trying to grow me up in a situation and I don’t want to hear it. It’s hard to explain but i am sure that I have a few witnesses out there on this matter.
Have you ever been mad that God did not move fast enough in a situation and when he did come through you complained. Wake up sis! God knows the beginning and the end of your situation – well heck, HE IS the Beginning and the End! Alpha and Omega!
I love this verse because David says that you hem me in behind and before, meaning that I cannot escape Him and then in that moment of stillness – He lays His hand upon me. If you have never had the hand of God laid upon you then keep living… sometimes we are restless in our situation and he has to stop us in our tracks in order to lay His hands upon us to finish the work that He has started in us.
I have to stop right here and pick this thing up on tomorrow – I’m getting happy just thinking about it.
Journal Prompt
In life, we don’t sit still long enough to hear the voice of God or to feel His touch. Find a quiet space today and take a 5 minute “Still” break. Take time to hear the voice of God and to feel His touch. After you complete 5 minutes add this as a part of your devotional practice each day – after a week add 5 more minutes to this routine.
Write down how you felt. Write down what you saw. Write down what you smelled. Embrace every moment and write down your experience as you are hemmed in by God.
Today’s Challenge
You are the creation of God, the Creator. Are you taking care of yourself?
How much water do you drink in a day? An easy bench mark is the 64 ounces of water day rule (eight 8 ounces glasses). Strive for the refreshing benchmark of 64 ounces and add a little more to add life to body. There are different ways to add water – by drinking water, eating fruit, and through other beverages like coffee and tea.
Water hydration is great for the skin and hair as well as a whole host of areas within the body. Get up and grab your favorite glass and begin drinking water to hydrate.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, thank You for hemming me in — for being behind me in all that has passed and before me in all that is to come. Forgive me for the times I’ve wrestled against Your stillness. When You stop me in my tracks, let me not fight it but yield to it — knowing that Your hand upon me is not a hindrance, but a grace. Finish the work You have started in me. I trust You. Amen.
Sis, Remember this…
God hems you in — behind and before. There is nowhere you can go that He is not already there. And when life gets loud and restless, sometimes He has to stop you in your tracks — not to punish you, but to place His hand on you. That stillness you’ve been fighting? It might be Him. Don’t run from it. He’s not finished with you yet.
