“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?”

Devotional Reflection: An Overwhelming Presence

Good day, sis! Let’s talk about this overwhelming presence in Psalm 139 – verse 7 sums up the the feeling in two questions. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

And the answers are simple, there is no where that you can go that you are not in the presence of God. God is everywhere! Inside and outside, above and below, around and in… And you know what I thank Him for his presence. It is his presence that keeps me. That keeps my mind and my thoughts. It is the presence of God that keeps my sanity and helps me to make it from one day to the next.

I was sitting here thinking – God is in every tear that you cry. He dissects the tear drop to hear the painful feeling of his child, you! Even when you cannot get the words to come out of your mouth, God is present in your mind and hears every request and every plea.

His presence is the reason that I am still here today!

Think of a moment when you felt completely overwhelmed — by a situation, a season, or even a feeling. Looking back, where do you see God’s presence in that moment?

Was it obvious at the time, or only visible in hindsight?

Today’s Challenge

Read Psalm 139:7-10 – How does this passage bring you comfort? Take a few minutes to journal about a specific moment when you felt overwhelmed or alone, and reflect on how God’s constant presence, as described in Psalm 139:7-10, might have been with you even if you didn’t recognize it at the time.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, I come before You today grateful and in awe. Thank You for Your overwhelming presence that surrounds me—above and below, within and without. Even when I feel lost, afraid, or completely undone, I can rest in the truth that You are never far from me. Help me to surrender my fears, my worries, and my feelings of being overwhelmed into Your capable hands. In this very moment, I choose to believe that Your nearness is not just real, but that it is my greatest comfort and my safe place. Amen.

Sis, Remember This…

You are fully seen, fully known, and fully loved by God, every moment of every day.
He goes before you and behind you, His hand gently resting on you, just like Psalm 139 promises.
There is no place you can go, no depth you can sink to, where His presence will not find and hold you.
When you doubt your worth or feel unseen, remember—your life is intentionally and wonderfully woven by His own hands.
