Today’s Scripture — Psalm 139:11–12

“If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.” — Psalm 139:11–12, KJVS

Devotional Reflection — God Sees Me Here

Sister, there are moments when life doesn’t look anything like we thought it would. We can find ourselves standing in a place we never expected to be, carrying feelings we don’t quite know how to explain. Sometimes it is disappointment. Sometimes it is uncertainty. Sometimes it is grief, loneliness, frustration, exhaustion, or simply the realization that “I don’t know what comes next.”

David understood something about those dark places. In Psalm 139:11 he says, “Surely the darkness shall cover me.” Yet in the very next verse, he declares that even the darkness cannot hide him from God. What feels dark to us is still completely visible to Him.

God sees you right where you are today.

Not where you were five years ago. Not where you thought you would be by now. Not where someone else thinks you should be. Not even where you hope to be tomorrow. He sees you here.

He sees the woman who is celebrating and the woman who is struggling. He sees the woman who feels strong in her faith and the woman whispering, “Lord, I’m trying.” He sees the woman surrounded by people who still feels alone. He sees the woman pouring into everyone else while wondering who notices that she needs pouring into too.

He sees you.

And because He sees you, you don’t have to pretend with Him.

There is something beautiful about having a relationship with a God who already knows the truth. You can tell Him, “Lord, I’m disappointed.” You can tell Him, “I’m angry.” You can tell Him, “I’m afraid.” You can tell Him, “I’m tired.” You can even tell Him, “God, I don’t understand what You’re doing right now.”

He isn’t intimidated by your honesty.

Remember what we’ve learned throughout Psalm 139: He already knows your thoughts. He already knows your words before they reach your tongue. He already knows where you are. So prayer isn’t about giving God information He doesn’t have. Prayer is about inviting God into what you’re carrying.

Verse 12 reminds us that “the darkness and the light are both alike” to Him. God doesn’t lose His ability to lead simply because you have lost your ability to see. He doesn’t become confused because you are confused. He doesn’t become anxious because you are anxious.

God can see clearly from where you are.

Maybe you are in a beautiful season right now. Thank Him for it. Maybe you’re in a difficult one. Talk to Him about it. Maybe you’re somewhere in between—grateful for what God has done but still waiting for what He will do next.

Tell Him that too.

God doesn’t only want the version of you who has everything together. He wants YOU—right here, right now.

Journal Prompt

A Letter to God — Where I Am Today

Today, instead of answering several questions, write God a personal letter.

Begin with:

Dear God, this is where I am today…

Then write freely.

Tell Him what is going well. Tell Him what hurts. Tell Him what you’re thankful for. Tell Him what you’re worried about. Tell Him what you’re waiting for. Tell Him what you’re afraid to say out loud. Tell Him about the places where you can clearly see His hand and the places that still feel dark.

Don’t try to make your letter sound spiritual. Make it honest.

Before you finish, write:

“God, even here, I believe You see me.”

Then sit quietly for a few moments before closing your journal.

Today’s Challenge

Challenge139 — Day 17: Be Present With God

Today, give God a few uninterrupted minutes of your presence.

Put the phone down. Turn off the television. Step away from the noise and simply sit with Him.

You don’t have to solve anything.

You don’t have to figure out tomorrow.

You don’t even have to fill every quiet moment with words.

Simply remind yourself:

“God is here, and God sees me here.”

Carry that thought throughout your day. Whenever worry about tomorrow begins creeping in, bring yourself back to today and say:

“Lord, meet me right here.”

Today’s Prayer

Father, here I am. You know exactly where I am today—emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically. Nothing about me is hidden from You. Thank You that even when life feels dark, the darkness cannot hide me from Your sight. Help me to be honest with You about what I am carrying. Teach me not to run from Your presence when I am hurting, confused, disappointed, or afraid. Remind me that I don’t have to have everything figured out to come close to You. Thank You for meeting me right here, loving me right here, and continuing to lead me from right here. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Sis, Remember This…

God isn’t waiting for you at some future version of yourself.

He is with you right here.

In the light, He sees you. In the darkness, He sees you. In your certainty, He sees you. In your questions, He still sees you.

So talk to Him today. Tell Him where you really are.

Sis, there is no darkness deep enough to hide you from the God who loves you. Even here, you are seen. Even here, you are known. And yes—even here, you are loved.
