Challenge139 — Day 34

FILAS Women Online — Devotional for a deeper, more intimate walk with the God who knows you completely.

Today’s Scripture — Psalm 139:19–20

“Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men. For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.” — Psalm 139:19–20, KJV

Devotional Reflection — Pray for the Difficult Ones Too

Sis, it’s easy to pray for people we love.

It’s different when God begins dealing with us about the people who irritate us, disappoint us, oppose us, or have hurt us.

David’s strong words in Psalm 139 show us his honest emotions—and God allowed that honesty into Scripture. We can be honest with God too.

Prayer doesn’t require pretending the hurt didn’t happen.

But prayer can keep the hurt from changing who we become.

You can tell God exactly how you feel and then ask Him to work in both hearts.

Sometimes the first prayer is simply:

“Lord, I’m not there yet, but help me.”

That’s a beginning.

Journal Prompt

Who is difficult for you to pray for?

Why?

Write an honest prayer about that person. You don’t have to pretend everything is okay. Tell God the truth and ask Him to keep your heart free.

Today’s Challenge

Challenge139 — Day 34: Pray for Someone Difficult

Choose one person who is difficult for you and pray for them today.

Ask God to bless what is good, correct what is wrong, heal what is wounded, and draw them closer to Him.

Then pray the same things for yourself.

Today’s Prayer

Father, You know the people I struggle with and the reasons why. Help me bring my honest feelings to You instead of allowing bitterness to grow. Work in their heart and work in mine. Teach me to forgive, pray, and remain free. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Sis, Remember This…

Praying for someone doesn’t excuse what they did.

Sometimes prayer is how you make sure what they did doesn’t take root in you.

Sis, pray for them—and protect your own heart in the process.
