Today’s Scripture — Psalm 139:13–14 KJV

“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”

Devotional Reflection — Talk to Her Differently

Sis, we’ve visited Psalm 139:14 before, but becoming comfortable with the woman God created isn’t usually accomplished in one devotional. We can quote “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” and then stand in front of the mirror criticizing everything we see. We can celebrate everybody else’s beauty, gifts, accomplishments, and personalities while constantly finding something wrong with our own.

If God was intentional when He created you, then perhaps part of honoring the Creator is learning to speak differently about His creation. That doesn’t mean we cannot grow, improve, take care of ourselves, or desire change. It means growth doesn’t have to begin with rejection. You can want to become healthier, wiser, stronger, or more disciplined without hating the woman who is still becoming those things.

Listen to how you talk to yourself today. Would you speak those same words to another woman you love? If not, why are you comfortable saying them to yourself? Sis, maybe self-care today isn’t buying something or taking a break. Maybe self-care is simply refusing to tear down the woman God made.

Journal Prompt — How Do I Speak to Me?

Write down three things you regularly criticize about yourself.

Beside each one, write something true, gracious, and constructive instead.

Today’s Challenge — No Self-Insults

For today, don’t say anything degrading about your appearance, ability, age, body, personality, or progress.

If you catch yourself doing it, stop and replace it with:

“I am God’s work in progress, and I will speak to His creation with grace.”

Today’s Prayer

Father, teach me to see myself through the truth of Your Word. Forgive me for the ways I’ve spoken harshly about something You created intentionally. Help me grow without despising where I am today. Teach me to care for myself, speak life over myself, and praise You for the woman You created me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
