Devotional Reflection
Still Growing, Still Grateful!
Sis, can you believe we’ve reached Day 80 of Challenge139? Eighty days of spending time in God’s Word, reflecting on our hearts, examining our thoughts, and intentionally seeking a closer relationship with Him. When we began this journey, we weren’t simply committing to reading devotionals. We were inviting God into the places within us that needed His attention. We were asking Him to reveal what we couldn’t always recognize about ourselves, challenge the thoughts and attitudes we’d become comfortable with, and lead us toward a deeper understanding of who He is. And today, as we celebrate this milestone, I want us to pause and consider something: Are we still as willing to let God work within us as we were when this journey began?
Sometimes we become so focused on completing something that we forget why we started. We celebrate the number of days, the consistency, and the progress we’ve made. And there’s nothing wrong with celebrating those things. In fact, we should thank God for the discipline, encouragement, and opportunities He’s given us to remain connected to His Word. But spiritual growth isn’t measured simply by how many devotionals we’ve read or how many days we’ve completed. It’s reflected in our willingness to allow God’s Word to influence how we think, respond, trust, forgive, love, and live.
Psalm 139:23–24 has been at the heart of this journey. David’s prayer, “Search me, O God, and know my heart,” is not a prayer we pray once and then move beyond. It is an invitation we must continually extend to God. Because as we grow, there will still be things within us that need examination. There will still be attitudes that need correcting, fears that need surrendering, wounds that need healing, and habits that need changing. And Sis, that’s not necessarily evidence that we’ve failed. It’s a reminder that spiritual maturity is an ongoing process.
Think about how much we’ve explored throughout these 80 days. We’ve been reminded that God knows us completely, even the parts of ourselves we struggle to understand. We’ve learned that His presence remains with us in difficult seasons, that His thoughts toward us are precious, and that we don’t have to hide our struggles from Him. We’ve examined our hearts, confronted uncomfortable truths, challenged old patterns, and learned to recognize the importance of responding to what God reveals. We’ve talked about forgiveness, grace, spiritual growth, renewing our minds, and trusting God when we don’t understand the process. And through it all, one truth continues to stand out: God is faithful, even while we’re still becoming.
Philippians 1:6 reminds us that the One who began a good work in us will continue it until the day of Jesus Christ. What a beautiful assurance! Our confidence isn’t in our ability to accomplish spiritual perfection through our own efforts. Our confidence rests in the faithfulness of God. He knows the work that still needs to be done. He knows the areas where we’re growing and the places where we’re still struggling. And He remains faithful to His work within us.
But here’s something I want us to consider today. Sometimes we become grateful for what God has done for us while overlooking what He’s been doing in us. We thank Him for answered prayers, opened doors, financial provision, healing, protection, and blessings. And we absolutely should. But when was the last time we thanked Him for changing our attitude? For helping us respond with patience instead of anger? For teaching us to forgive? For giving us the courage to establish a healthy boundary? For helping us recognize a pattern that was keeping us spiritually stagnant?
Sis, those are blessings too.
Maybe you don’t have everything you’ve been praying for, but you’re learning to trust God while you wait. Maybe your circumstances haven’t changed, but your response to them has. Maybe you’re still working through something difficult, but you’re no longer allowing it to control your thoughts the way it once did. Maybe you’re still learning how to forgive, how to surrender, or how to walk in obedience. Whatever the case may be, don’t overlook the work God is doing within you simply because it doesn’t always produce something visible to everybody else.
And let me say this: Being grateful for your growth doesn’t mean pretending you’ve arrived. We can celebrate progress while remaining humble enough to acknowledge that there’s still work to be done. We can thank God for what He’s helped us overcome while continuing to surrender the things we’re still struggling with. We can recognize our spiritual maturity without becoming spiritually complacent.
Sometimes the greatest evidence of growth is that we no longer resist the very things God is trying to show us. We become more willing to admit when we’re wrong. More willing to listen before responding. More willing to ask for forgiveness. More willing to acknowledge when our hearts aren’t in the right place. More willing to trust God with things we cannot control. And more willing to let His Word challenge us rather than simply comfort us.
Sis, that is growth worth celebrating.
And if you’ve missed a few days along the way, don’t allow that to discourage you. This journey has never been about perfect attendance. It’s about an intentional relationship with God. Every day presents another opportunity to return to His Word, examine our hearts, and continue growing. The important thing isn’t whether we’ve done everything perfectly. It’s whether we’re still willing to seek Him.
So today, as we celebrate 80 days of Challenge139, I want us to look back with gratitude, look within with honesty, and look ahead with expectation. Thank God for every lesson He’s taught you. Thank Him for every truth He’s revealed. Thank Him for the areas where you’ve grown, even if that growth has been slow or uncomfortable. But don’t stop there. Ask Him to continue the work.
Because the goal was never to reach Day 80 and declare that we’re finished.
The goal is to keep becoming more like Christ.
Sis, we’re still growing.
We’re still learning.
We’re still surrendering.
And through it all, we have so much to be grateful for.
Eighty days later, we’re still growing, and we’re still grateful!

Today’s Challenge
80 Days. 3 Thank-Yous. 1 Surrender.
Today, we’re celebrating this milestone by focusing on gratitude and continued spiritual growth.
Step 1 — Thank God for Where You Started
Think about the woman you were when you began Challenge139.
Thank God for meeting you right where you were.
Step 2 — Thank God for Where You Are
Identify one way you’ve grown spiritually during these 80 days.
Maybe you’ve become more patient, more prayerful, more intentional, or more aware of God’s presence.
Thank Him for that growth.
Step 3 — Thank God for Where You’re Going
Consider an area where you still need His guidance and transformation.
Thank Him for His faithfulness to continue the work He’s begun.
Now, Make One Surrender.
Write down one area of your life where you want to remain open to God’s correction, guidance, or healing.
Pray:
“Lord, I’m grateful for how far You’ve brought me, and I’m still willing to go wherever You lead me.”
And here’s something special for today: Share one thing you’re grateful God has been teaching you throughout Challenge139.
Your testimony may encourage another woman who doesn’t yet recognize the growth happening within her.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, today I come before You with a grateful heart. Thank You for eighty days of seeking You, studying Your Word, examining my heart, and growing in my relationship with You. Thank You for every truth You’ve revealed, every lesson You’ve taught, and every opportunity You’ve given me to become more like Christ. Forgive me for the times I’ve resisted Your correction, overlooked my progress, or become more focused on completing the journey than allowing the journey to change me. Help me remain humble, teachable, and willing to surrender every part of my life to You. Lord, continue to search my heart and know my thoughts. Reveal what needs to change, strengthen what needs to grow, and heal what still needs Your attention. Thank You for the work You’ve already done within me and for Your faithfulness to continue it. May my gratitude never cause me to become complacent, and may my desire for growth never cause me to overlook Your grace. Keep leading me in the way everlasting. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Sis, Remember This…
Spiritual growth isn’t measured by how many days you’ve completed, but by how willing you remain to let God continue His work within you.
Sis, 80 days later, you’re still growing, still learning, and still becoming. Don’t forget to thank God for the work He’s already done while remaining open to the work He’s still doing.
