🌷 Today’s Spiritual Theme

Your Story Is Still Being Written

Today’s Scripture

Psalm 139:16 (KJV)

“Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”

Supporting Scripture — Philippians 3:13–14 (KJV)

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Devotional Reflection

Your Story Is Still Being Written

Sis, have you ever looked at your life and wondered how you ended up where you are today? Maybe there were things you expected to accomplish by now, plans you thought would work out differently, or decisions you wish you could go back and change. Perhaps you’ve experienced disappointments that made you question your direction or seasons when you felt like everybody else was moving forward while you were standing still. And sometimes, if we’re honest, we can become so focused on what hasn’t happened that we overlook everything God has already brought us through. But here’s what I want us to remember today: The chapter you’re living in right now is not the whole story of your life.

Psalm 139:16 reminds us of God’s extraordinary knowledge of David even before his development was complete. David recognizes that nothing about his formation was hidden from God’s sight. The language of God’s book emphasizes the depth of His knowledge and sovereign care. And Sis, while this Scripture doesn’t mean that every decision we make is automatically God’s will or that every painful experience was something He desired for us, it does remind us that our lives are never beyond His awareness.

And here’s something I’ve been thinking about. Sometimes we allow one difficult season to become the definition of our entire lives. We experience a setback, make a mistake, or face an unexpected change, and suddenly we begin speaking about ourselves as though that moment tells the whole story. We say things like, “I should be further along,” “I wasted too much time,” or “Maybe I missed my opportunity.” And before we know it, we’re allowing yesterday’s disappointments to influence how we approach tomorrow’s possibilities.

But Sis, your past may explain some things about your journey, but it doesn’t have to determine every decision you make moving forward. You can acknowledge mistakes without allowing them to become your identity. You can learn from disappointment without believing that nothing good can happen again. And you can recognize that a season has been difficult without concluding that your entire future will look the same.

Philippians 3:13–14 gives us a powerful reminder through Paul’s words. He acknowledged that he had not yet arrived at the fullness of what he was pursuing. Instead of pretending that his journey was complete, he remained focused on pressing forward in Christ. And I love that because it reminds us that spiritual maturity isn’t about reaching a point where we no longer need to grow. It’s about remaining committed to following Christ, even when we recognize that we still have work to do.

Now, Sis, let me say something important. Moving forward doesn’t mean pretending the past didn’t happen. Sometimes there are experiences we need to process, relationships that require healing, consequences we must address, or responsibilities we need to take seriously. We don’t grow by ignoring those things. We grow by facing them with honesty, seeking God’s wisdom, and refusing to allow shame or disappointment to keep us from making meaningful changes.

And sometimes the next chapter of our lives doesn’t begin with a dramatic opportunity or a major announcement. Sometimes it begins with a different decision. We choose to respond more patiently. We finally establish a boundary we’ve needed for years. We begin taking better care of ourselves. We return to a spiritual discipline we’ve neglected. Or we make the decision to stop comparing our lives to somebody else’s timeline. Those changes may seem small, but they can represent meaningful steps toward becoming the women God is calling us to be.

Sis, I also want us to remember that being a work in progress doesn’t mean we’re failing. We can be grateful for how far we’ve come while remaining honest about where we still need to grow. We can celebrate what God has helped us overcome without pretending that every struggle has disappeared. And we can look toward the future with hope without demanding that everything unfold according to our personal timeline.

Maybe today you’re in a chapter that feels uncertain. Perhaps you’re rebuilding something, learning something, or trying to make sense of a situation you never expected to experience. Maybe you’re celebrating a new beginning, or perhaps you’re still working through the disappointment of an ending. Whatever your circumstances may be, I want you to remember that God is worthy of your trust in this season, too.

And as we reach Day 95 of Challenge139, I want us to reflect on something. We’ve spent 95 days allowing God’s Word to examine our hearts, challenge our thinking, and encourage our spiritual growth. And perhaps the greatest lesson isn’t that we’ve finally figured everything out. Maybe it’s that we’re learning to trust God more deeply while recognizing that we’re still becoming.

So today, Sis, don’t allow what hasn’t happened yet to make you forget what God has already done.

Don’t allow one difficult chapter to convince you that the rest of your story has no hope.

And don’t become so discouraged by where you are that you stop taking faithful steps toward where God is leading you.

Your story is still unfolding.

Keep praying. Keep learning. Keep making wise decisions. Keep allowing God’s Word to shape your heart.

And remember, Sis, you don’t have to have every chapter figured out to remain faithful in the one you’re living right now.

Journal Prompt

What Chapter Am I Living In?

1. What past experience, disappointment, or mistake have I allowed to influence how I see my future?

2. Have I been comparing my life’s progress to somebody else’s timeline?

3. What is one lesson from my past that I can carry forward without continuing to carry the guilt or disappointment attached to it?

4. What is one faithful step I can take in the chapter I’m living right now?

Today’s Declaration:

“Lord, thank You for knowing my life completely. Help me learn from yesterday, remain faithful today, and trust You with the chapters I haven’t reached yet.”

Today’s Challenge

Don’t Judge Your Story by One Chapter

Step 1 — Reflect on Your Journey

Write down one experience that once felt like a setback but helped you recognize something important about yourself.

Step 2 — Release an Unhelpful Label

Identify one negative statement you’ve been repeating about your life or progress.

Replace it with a truthful, encouraging reminder grounded in God’s Word.

Step 3 — Take One Forward Step

Choose one action that supports your spiritual, emotional, or personal growth today.

It doesn’t have to be dramatic. It simply needs to be intentional.

Step 4 — Thank God for Where You Are

Before the day ends, thank God for one way you’ve grown and ask Him for wisdom concerning what comes next.

Today’s reminder: Your life is more than the chapter you’re living in right now.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, thank You for knowing me completely and for remaining faithful throughout every season of my life. Thank You for the experiences that have helped me grow, the lessons I’ve learned, and the opportunities You’ve given me to begin again. Forgive me for the times I’ve allowed disappointment, regret, or comparison to influence how I see my future. Sometimes I become so focused on what hasn’t happened that I forget to appreciate what You’ve already brought me through. Lord, search my heart and reveal the places where I’ve been holding on to guilt, fear, or unrealistic expectations. Help me learn from my mistakes, take responsibility where necessary, and move forward with greater wisdom. Give me patience when progress feels slow, courage when change is needed, and discernment when decisions must be made. As I continue this Challenge139 journey, remind me that spiritual growth is an ongoing process. Teach me to remain faithful in the season I’m living now while trusting You with what I cannot yet see. May my life continue reflecting Your grace, Your truth, and Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Sis, Remember This…

Don’t judge your entire story by the chapter you’re living in right now. God knows where you’ve been, He sees where you are, and you can trust Him with what comes next.

Sis, you can appreciate how far you’ve come without having everything figured out. Your story is still unfolding, and there’s still room for growth, grace, and new beginnings. 💗
