Challenge139 — Day 41

Devotional Reflection — Look How Far We’ve Come

Sis, today I don’t want us to focus on just one verse. I want us to look at the whole journey of Psalm 139 because, in many ways, this chapter has become the foundation of our Challenge139 journey.

We began with four simple words that changed everything: “Thou hast searched me.”

Before David ever asked God to search him, God already had. Before David invited God into the hidden places of his heart, God already knew what was there. Psalm 139 introduced us to a God who doesn’t simply know about us—He knows us.

As we’ve walked through this Psalm, we’ve discovered just how deep that knowing goes. God knows when we sit down and when we get up. He understands our thoughts. He knows the words we’re going to speak before they ever leave our mouths. He knows where we’ve been, where we are right now, and where we’re going.

Then we learned something else: there is nowhere we can go where God is not already there. David asked where he could go from God’s Spirit and quickly discovered the answer—nowhere. Whether we’re experiencing beautiful mountaintop moments or walking through seasons that feel unbearably dark, God’s presence remains. Even the darkness isn’t dark to Him.

Then Psalm 139 took us even deeper. We discovered that God’s knowledge of us didn’t begin when we finally got ourselves together. He knew us while He was forming us. Before anybody else saw us, God did. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Our lives were not accidents or afterthoughts. The Creator was intentional about His creation.

And then David gave us another truth that we have spent several days sitting with: God thinks about us.

“How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God!”

That challenged us to ask ourselves: If I’m on God’s mind, how often is God on mine? We began thinking about making room for God in our everyday lives—not just during church or devotional time, but while working, driving, cooking, cleaning, resting, making decisions, and simply living.

But then the journey became uncomfortable.

David began talking about the wickedness he saw around him, and we began examining what we allow close to us. We talked about boundaries, anger, forgiveness, difficult people, guarding our hearts, and letting God handle situations that don’t belong in our hands.

And just when it would have been easy for David to finish Psalm 139 talking about everybody else, he turned the mirror toward himself.

“Search me, O God.”

Isn’t that something?

Psalm 139 begins:

“God, You have searched me.”

And ends:

“God, search me.”

That’s growth.

At the beginning, David acknowledges that God knows him. By the end, David trusts the God who knows him enough to invite Him deeper.

And Sister, maybe that’s exactly what is happening to us through Challenge139.

This challenge isn’t simply about completing 139 days. It’s not about checking off another devotional, posting another graphic, or saying, “I made it to Day 41.”

We are learning to become comfortable being completely known by God.

We’re learning that we don’t have to hide from Him. We’re learning to recognize His presence. We’re learning to appreciate the woman He created. We’re learning to think about Him throughout our day. We’re learning to guard our hearts, examine our thoughts, surrender what doesn’t belong, and allow God to lead us.

And here we are at Day 41.

We still have a journey ahead of us, but don’t rush past what God has already done.

You may not be the same woman who started Day 1.

Maybe you’re praying differently. Maybe you’re noticing God more. Maybe you’ve confronted something within yourself. Maybe you’ve established a boundary. Maybe you’ve forgiven someone. Maybe you’ve started making time for yourself and God. Maybe you’ve simply become more aware of one beautiful truth:

I am fully known by God—and I am still fully loved.

Sis, we’re not finished.

We’re growing.

Journal Prompt — What Has Changed in Me?

Today, look back over your Challenge139 journey so far.

Don’t rush this journal entry.

Ask yourself:

What has God taught me about Himself during these first 41 days?

What has God shown me about myself?

Which Psalm 139 verse has become the most personal to me—and why?

What have I changed because of something God revealed?

Where do I still need to grow?

Then finish with this sentence:

“The woman who started Challenge139 on Day 1 __________. The woman sitting here on Day 41 __________.”

Be honest about the difference—even if it seems small.

Small growth is still growth.

Today’s Challenge — Look Back Before You Move Forward

Challenge139 — Day 41: Remember the Journey

Today, go back and read Psalm 139 in its entirety.

But don’t read it quickly.

As you move through the chapter, remember the journey we’ve taken together.

When a verse reminds you of a previous Challenge139 lesson, stop.

When something speaks differently to you now than it did at the beginning, underline or highlight it.

When you recognize an area where you’ve grown, thank God.

When you recognize an area that still needs work, invite Him in.

Then choose one verse from Psalm 139 that represents where you are in your journey right now.

Write it somewhere you will see it this week—on your mirror, in your phone, on your desk, in your journal, or beside your bed.

Let that verse become your Psalm 139 verse for this season.

Today’s Prayer

Father, thank You for these first 41 days. Thank You for every moment You have reminded me that I am known, seen, loved, created with intention, and never outside of Your presence. Thank You for the comfortable lessons and even the uncomfortable ones. Thank You for showing me things about myself that I needed to see. As I continue this Challenge139 journey, don’t let this become something I simply complete. Let it change me. Help me know You more intimately, see myself more clearly, love others more genuinely, and walk more closely with You. Keep searching me. Keep teaching me. Keep correcting me. Keep loving me. And above all, keep leading me in the way everlasting. I’m only on Day 41, Lord, and I believe there is still so much more You want to show me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Sis, Remember This…

You didn’t begin Challenge139 because you already had everything figured out.

You began because you wanted to grow.

Forty-one days later, God is still searching, revealing, healing, teaching, loving, and leading.

Sis, don’t become so focused on how far you still have to go that you forget to thank God for how far you’ve already come.

We’re only on Day 41. Keep going. God isn’t finished with you yet.
