Devotional Reflection — God Saw Me Before Anyone Applauded Me

Oooo Sis, this one hits home. Let’s look at this …before anybody complimented you, followed you, chose you, hired you, married you, recognized you, invited you, or even knew your name, God saw you. David describes a God who saw him while he was still being formed, before there was anything visible for the world to recognize.

That truth matters in a world where it’s easy to measure our value by other people’s responses. We notice who acknowledged us, who didn’t invite us, who didn’t support us, who didn’t celebrate us, or who received the opportunity we wanted. Without realizing it, we can start letting human recognition determine how valuable we feel. But your worth did not begin when somebody noticed you. Why do we harp so much on the responses of others? Why does this dictate our lives? meaning what we do or don’t do? I had some questions that I myself deal with all of the time.

As children of the most high, we have to understand that “…it is He that hath made us and not we ourselves…” We get so caught up on what “they” say. “They” don’t have a heaven or hell for you – so who cares. It took me a long time to deal with this. As I still struggle at times. In this day and age with technology, all of our platforms and sites we want to check the likes and the comments to “see” what people think. Only to be disappointed when that one person that you thought would like does not respond.

Look Sis! You have got to get out of your head – My personal devotional scripture this morning was Ephesians 2:10 – where God was reminding me that I am HIS workmanship. When are you going to realize that the only opinion that matters is HIS!

God saw you before there was anything to applaud. He saw purpose while you were still being formed. That means your value isn’t increased by attention, and it isn’t diminished by being overlooked. Human affirmation feels good—and there’s nothing wrong with appreciating it—but it was never designed to tell you who you are.

Stop looking for folks to applaud you. Stop wasting time waiting for that ‘pat on the back’. God sees you and HIS applause is all that you need!

Whose recognition, approval, invitation, or validation affects me more than it should?

Write about why.

Today’s Challenge — Do It Without Applause

Do one good thing today that nobody needs to know about.

Encourage someone. Give. Serve. Pray. Help.

Don’t post it.

Let it simply be between you and God.

Today’s Prayer

Father, thank You for seeing me before anyone else knew me. Help me appreciate encouragement without becoming dependent upon applause. Remind me that my value is rooted in You, not in how many people notice what I do. Let me live faithfully even when nobody is watching. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Sis, Remember This…

God saw you before anybody applauded you.

Sis, being overlooked by people doesn’t mean you’re unseen by God.
